Application

Application of METAL DOCTOR

SKD-11, SKD-61, HP-4MA, Aluminum alloy, S45C, Copper alloy, DTAVAX, NAK etc

Including molds in injection, die casting, casting, forging and press industries, Metal Doctor can be
applied to varieties of industrial metal equipment and machinery for forming/repairing and hardening(surface coating).

Plastic injection

Plastic injection fields can apply Metal Doctor on cases shown below therefore contributing to the extension of molds’ life extension and reduction in cost for improvement of productivity.

Metal Doctor is capable of forming and repairing micro worn-out
parts(BURR, PIN HOLE, CRACK, EDGE) without disassembling the mold.

Unlike welding, there is no heat input disallowing any damage that can be done on mold or product.

By applying tungsten coating on worn-out parts, life of mold can be extended.

Die-casting

In aluminum casting, molten aluminum and proper temperature control of mold is very important in decreasing products’ defect and maintaining molds’ life.

Usage of lubricant(mold wash, mold release) and shape of mold etc., can lead to many problems and lot of them can be solved by applying Metal Doctors’ coating.

Casting

Metal Doctor prevents adhesion of molten metal by coating the gate and runner with tungsten electrode.

Adhesion of molten aluminum refers to a phenomenon when portion of molten metal(needed in casting) adheres to the mold(runner or gate) which can lead to deformation of the final product and tearing of surface when detached.

With application of coating, lubricant(mold wash, mold release) is no longer a must. Disuse of lubricant can decrease products’ defect and extend molds’ life.

Tungsten coating allows roughness of base metal to be adjusted with ease and gas(emits during process) to be properly degassed.

If not properly degassed, gas will corrode the mold, shorten its’ life, and cause defect in production.

Forging

Problems such as wear on surface and cracks of structure occur on hammer from the damage during forging process.
Metal Doctors’ surface coating can extend molds’ life and therefore contribute to the reduction in cost.
